Tamares has announced the closing of its acquisition of the Gannett HQ in Tysons Corner. The 800k SF building was purchased through a JV with Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company of Finland for $270M.

The building is located on 17 acres at 7950 Jones Branch Dr and will transition from single- to multi-tenant occupancy. Gannett has signed a 12-year lease to remain in the building while TEGNA, the broadcasting company Gannett recently spun off, has agreed to lease 20% of the building for 18 months. CBRE brokered the transaction and will also lead the placement of tenants in the building.

“We look forward to enhancing the property and applying our local experience to attract new tenants to make 7950 Jones Branch Dr some of the most sought-after first-class commercial office space in the area,” says Tameres chairman Poju Zabludowicz.
