The sun was shining brightly at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda this weekend for the Quicken Loans National golf tournament. On Saturday, we snapped Quicken Loans CEO Bill Emerson overlooking the famed Blue Course's 10th hole, where he told us the firm was excited to have just given a lucky fan a year's worth of mortgage payments, thanks to Peter Hanson's hole-in-one on the second hole. Quicken Loans is offering the prize for every hole-in-one on the PGA Tour this season. Aside from presiding over Quicken Loans' first year as title sponsor of the event, it was a good week for Bill: he got to play with tourney host Tiger Woods in Wednesday's pro-am.
On the course, we snapped young hotshot Jordan Spieth sizing up a putt, as Australian Stephen Bowditch walks behind. 20-year-old Jordan, runner-up at this year's Masters, ended up T11 at Congressional.
On the putting green, we snapped Saturday co-leader Ricky Barnes (green shirt) working on a drill, as eventual champion Justin Rose does the same to the left. South African Brendan de Jonge lines up some putts behind Ricky.
