Forest City Places Capital Riverfront Building on Market

After receiving numerous inquiries from developers interested in buying and redeveloping 501 M St SE, Forest City Washington has placed the property on the market.

Known as Building 202, the 215k SF building has been listed for sale through Meany & Oliver. Marketing materials suggest the building could be a great spot for a boutique hotel, condominium units or industrial-style loft office space.

The property had been tabbed for a future development phase of The Yards, the Forest City mega-project that has revitalized the area around the Navy Yard. There’s still a long way to go on that front, with additional plans for millions of square feet of office buildings and thousands of residences. Forest City has developed much of the project on its own, but the inquiries for Building 202 made it a good candidate for a potential sale. [WBJ]
