D.C. developers continue to pursue new affordable housing projects for seniors, with the latest one planned near the Skyland Town Center development in Southeast D.C.

Miller, a Bethesda-based development firm, filed a planned unit development application Friday calling for a 67-unit project at 2419 25th St. SE, Urban Turf reports.

The five-story senior affordable housing building is being designed by Torti Gallas Urban. It will be set aside for those making up to 60% of the area median income.

Rappaport and WC Smith broke ground in 2018 on Skyland Town Center's first phase, set to include 263 units and 80K SF of retail, and in May the team landed grocery store chain Lidl as an anchor tenant.

The proposal is the latest in a series of senior affordable housing projects to hit the boards in D.C. In November, Dantes Partners and Gilbane Development broke ground on a 152-unit affordable assisted living community in Ward 8. That same development team broke ground in February on a 38-unit senior affordable project on Kennedy Street NW. Urban Atlantic filed plans in October for up to 68 senior affordable units in Congress Heights. And in March 2018, Gragg Cardona Partners and the Carding Group pitched a 155-unit affordable assisted living community in Deanwood.
