The Westin Bayshore Hotel—infamous refuge for billionaire recluse Howard Hughes when he fled the US taxman in 1972, taking up residence in its penthouse—has been acquired by Concord Pacific Developments. Concord isn’t confirming it bought the complex, a six-acre site that includes the 510-room hotel and adjacent marina at 1601 Bayshore Dr, explaining it’s under a legal obligation not to comment on the proceedings. Avison Young’s Bob Levine, who repped a rival bidder for the property, estimated the sale price to be around $290M, a reflection of the builders' hopes for redevelopment of the site pending a rezoning.
