The federal government has set aside $30.6M for 11 Toronto projects as part of the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund.

The new PTIF funding includes $10M for Transit Priority Measures and $1.1M for five projects for the ongoing Union Station renovation. The station funding will cover everything from signage to lighting to the Northwest PATH extension.

“The City of Toronto welcomes the federal government's investment in the TTC and transportation infrastructure through the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund,” Toronto Transit Commission Chair and Toronto City Councillor Josh Colle said in a news release.

“The projects announced today are another step towards improving Toronto's transit service and will make it easier, faster and safer for our customers to get around the city.”

The PTIF is aimed at supporting transit projects across Canada ranging from small upgrades to large-scale infrastructure projects.

The City of Toronto will provide the balance of the funding for the 11 projects.
