Seattle's on another Top 20 list: a neighborhood in the city is the nation's 11th most expensive place for renters-by-choice, according to HomeUnion, an online real estate investment management firm. The company analyzed ZIP codes where more than 25% of the submarket’s real estate is rental stock, and those households have a median income in the 75th percentile, according to data compiled by HomeUnion, the Census Bureau and Maponics.
Greater Seattle renters-by-choice pay the most in the Kirkland neighborhood, namely an average of $2,793/month, with household income averaging $103,962/year and 26% of the residential space is rental. No. 1 in the nation (not surprisingly) is Tribeca in Manhattan, where rents average $8,762/month and incomes average $204,822/year.
