Report: Google, Ford To Build Self-Driving Cars Together

Google and Ford plan to enter into a JV to build self-driving vehicles with Google's technology.

The companies also have plans for a new business of automated ridesharing. The partnership brings Google's self-driving software expertise to Ford, which has been working with its own systems for years.

Ford announced this month it planned to test out self-driving cars in California, but Google already has logged 1.3 million miles test-driving its autonomous vehicles in California and Texas, according to Yahoo Autos. Google, on the other hand, gets Ford's car manufacturing expertise and infrastructure. [Yahoo]
