New Sunnyvale Office Moves Forward With Design Team

SmithGroupJJR will design a new 145,500 SF Silicon Valley office building for Spear Street Capital. The three-story Class-A office will be at 221 North Mathilda Ave. in Sunnyvale. The building will feature a 2K SF laminated glass artwork by Stephen Galloway along its façade. The artwork will reflect the site’s history as an orchard.

The project is to be built on a 4.3-acre greenfield at the northwest corner of Mathilda and West California avenues. It is close to Caltrain and is one of the first buildings to comply with the Peery Park Specific Plan.

The building will have floor-to-floor windows and industrial elements offering an open, modern warehouse feel. Large floor plans of up to 49,500 SF, a multilevel parking garage and various amenities will be provided. Amenities include a deck and private courtyard with outdoor kitchen, a third-level patio, bike repair and storage, lockers and showers, and public open space.

A 1,200 SF historic home will be rehabilitated into a multi-purpose conference or amenity center for a future tenant. The office building is targeting LEED-NC Platinum certification with sustainable features such as energy-efficient systems, architectural solar shading and water conservation fixtures. It is expected to be completed fall 2018. South Bay Construction will be the general contractor.
