Apple Workers Hitting Glass Wall, Not Glass Ceiling

Moving employees into its Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California, has not exactly been a smooth transition for Apple. Workers are reportedly walking into glass walls and doors and sustaining injuries, MarketWatch reports.

At least two minor injuries were reported early this year when workers began occupying Apple's $5B spaceship-like campus. Emergency services were called, but the employees were not hospitalized.

The glass-related injuries could be shedding light on potential violations of California law that requires companies to protect employees from walking through glass, according to MarketWatch. No citations from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration have been reported. Apple did not provide MarketWatch with comment about the issue or how it may be addressing it.

Apple Park’s open-office design also has been striking out with staff, and many complained about the new open cubicles and worktables with bench seating. Because of the pushback from the design, some executives like Eddy Cue, senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, said in August they would stay with their teams in the Infinite Loop headquarters.
