Last week, the City of Oakland received a permit application for $8M in interior tenant improvements at Uber's new Uptown Station. The improvements include structural upgrades to the first floor atrium and stairs between the third and fifth floors of the former Sears building, according to BuildZoom. While the permit awaits approval, the application marks the first major TIs to the building since Uber purchased it for $123.5M at the end of 2015 to house its new East Bay digs.
Uber confirmed it filed the permit and that it was the largest to-date for the project, Reuters reports. The remodel would include adding a rooftop deck. The company expects to file more permits in the coming months. Uber has delayed moving into the building to fall 2017, instead of early next year.
