Oakland Mayor-elect Libby Schaaf will make her first official speech to the commercial real estate community at Bisnow's Oakland Construction & Development event Nov. 17.
Bisnow just locked Libby down to deliver the keynote at Oakland Marriott City Center, starting at 8am. Another speaker will be Oakland planning and building director Rachel Flynn (below), who says the mayor-elect is 100% committed to Oakland. Rachel's also pleased that cultural venues and job growth--at all income levels--are up and that crime is significantly down.
Rachel notes there are 11,000 housing units in the pipeline (including hundreds that are affordable). "We all are working diligently to seize this moment," Rachel tells us. She had another reason to celebrate last year when she attended a wedding in Dhaka, Bangladesh, pictured here with her hubby and friend's nephew.
