Genentech's $2B Plan for California

Genentech will make more than $2B in capital investments through 2016 across the state, including lab expansions in S.F. and its manufacturing plants in Vacaville and Oceanside. It's erecting what it calls an employee resource center, which includes a fitness center, and plans to construct a second childcare center to hold another 500 children, reports the San Francisco Business Times. Thanks to local acquisitions and internal growth, Genentech has 1,500 more employees on its sprawling South San Francisco campus than it had two to three years ago.
