These Bay Area Neighborhoods Are Best For Families

East Bay cities have some of the best neighborhoods for Bay Area families with school-aged children, according to data from HomeUnion. Livermore ranked No. 1, followed by Fairfax and Walnut Creek. The East Bay did so well it makes up seven out of the 10 best ZIP codes. South Bay's Milpitas also made the list.

“With a median home sales price approaching $740K in the Bay Area, the cities on our list are excellent bargains for families who have children in public schools,” HomeUnion director of researcher Steve Hovland said.

HomeUnion ranked the ZIP codes by combining the lowest median home prices in the six-county region with public schools in the 80th percentile or higher as rated by Maponics.
