Napa Center lucked out, with no visible damage from the 6.0 earthquake that struck Aug. 24. The $30M overhaul to deliver a 153k SF retail and hospitality district in the heart of Napa is underway by Trademark and Zapolski Real Estate. Within a few weeks, downtown Napa will be operating at 85% and the hope is to be fully operating in a month, says ZRE founder Todd Zapolski. He's busy making sure everything's structurally sound at Napa Center, working with engineers to figure out what needs to be done.

That especially goes for the historic Gordon Building, a 20k SF property next to Napa Center they plan to develop together, Todd (above) says. The future of the site is still being figured out, with options ranging from housing one big retail tenant to residential. The foot-friendly shopping mecca, opening fall 2016, will contain 40 retailers and restaurants and the 185-room ARCHER Napa, a four-star luxury hotel.

The project's completion date has been delayed by a year, to fall 2016. That's not because of the earthquake but rather a reported hotel union dispute. That pushed back plans for the entire project, since the retail's debut wants to be in line with the opening of the hotel. Expect announcements about the first lineup of retailers this fall.
