Each of the Giants' and Warriors' mixed-use projects in Mission Bay are chugging along, despite snags coming from residents and city officials concerned about issues such as affordable housing and traffic. The Giants recently agreed to pump up affordable housing in its proposed 28-acre Mission Rock development across from AT&T Park, from 33% to 40% to serve low- and middle-income families. This comes after city Supervisor Jane Kim announced plans to introduce a November ballot measure proposing more affordable housing be included in the project, reports The Registry. And opposition to the new 18,000-seat Golden State Warriors arena recently came from the Mission Bay Alliance, especially related to ambulances’ and other emergency vehicles’ access to the nearby UCSF Hospital, with the key issue being one of traffic and safety.
