Nearly 30 acres of vacant San Francisco Bay waterfront wilderness is quickly becoming India Basin, the massive urban village project from Build Inc. Hear more about the development from one of the main men behind it at Bisnow's Future of the San Francisco Waterfront event at the Grand Hyatt on Wednesday, starting at 7:30am.
Among our panelists will be Build principal Michael Yarne, who is overseeing development of India Basin, which would contain up to 1,240 housing units, 275k SF of neighborhood serving retail and commercial space, a community market pavilion, a new charter school, and artist live/work studios distributed across a mix of three- to seven-story buildings. To accomplish the huge undertaking, Build has assembled a design team led by SOM (Park Merced Vision Plan and the Treasure Island Master Plan).
Because of the extraordinary scale of the undeveloped site, Michael tells us the company has an opportunity to develop a network of stormwater and “black water” (sewage) treatment wetlands that could allow the project to become a net exporter of recycled water (for irrigation and non-potable uses) to the surrounding area, including Lennar’s 10,000-unit Shipyard development.
