HERE COMES THE SUN

The largest rooftop-mounted solar power system in the US is complete. Avidan Management, led by Avi and Josh Avidan, just finished the installation of 17,745 (you read that right) solar panels on top of the 656k SF flex-industrial 145 Talmadge Rd in Edison, NJ.
Are Avi and Josh doing their best Titanic impression on the roof? More likely, they’re showing how much you can save with those panels: the 4.26 mW system will create clean energy equivalent to planting 3.5 million trees (for scope, there are only 24,000 trees inCentral Park) or taking nearly 1,000 SUVs off the road. The solar electric system will produce more than 5 million kWh annually, enough to service nearly half the power needs of the building’s multiple tenants, which utilize the facility as office space and dry goods, refrigerated, and frozen-food storage. The tenants will receive a portion of their electricity under a power purchase agreement; Avidan Management will purchase the solar-generated electric output from Avidan Energy Solutions and in turn sell the power to its tenants at a substantially reduced cost to market rates.
