Parkmerced's Transit-Friendly Tenants

TransitScreen just made its S.F. debut at Parkmerced, the area's largest apartment community next to SF State, in partnership with SFCTA and Nelson\Nygaard. The screens sit in the lobbies and tell rushing residents exactly what time the next nearby public transit option is coming. There's been tremendous interest to implement similar pilot programs with local universities, regional transit agencies, government agencies, real estate developers, and property management firms in 2014, says TransitScreen's Ryan Croft (right), posing with Parkmerced project coordinator Rogelio Foronda Jr. 

TransitScreen's S.F. office at 155 9th sits inside Code for America, a Google-backed nonprofit for civic-oriented tech startups like Ryan's (above, we stopped by an open house last week). TransitScreen is currently in talks with investors to raise a seed round of funding, he says, and last month won the Six Minute Pitch competition at the 93rd Annual Transportation Research Board Conference in DC. The company has a presence in about a dozen major regions in North America, including Atlanta, LA, NYC, and DC, with plans to support eight more by spring. The first batch of TransitScreens just launched in the Boston area at Bozzuto's Atmark Cambridge development near Harvard.
