HKS Architects Offers Five-Star Style

HKS Architects SVP Brendan Dunnigan reveals what’s most exciting for his creative group: blending market sectors. Can you imagine your ordinary commercial real estate property morphing into what looks like a five-star hotel? For one, HKS is transforming a spec office building into just that, with ground-floor concierge services, a fitness room, a library, and a conferencing area (catering would also be provided). It's also fashioning a local 273-unit multifamily project with a high-end hotel feel: fitness room, Jacuzzi, a landscaped exterior, and even a yoga area. Also charging up is a series of break rooms for the Tesla car company: Zen-like spaces in the midst of a high-pressured factory environment. And the historic GSA building on 50 United Nations Plaza gets a modern makeover while maintaining landmark integrity. Brendan says it’s all about a sense of place.
