First Look: Mozilla and Pivotal's New Spaces

BNBuilders gave us a first glance inside the walls of two new tech spaces in Silicon Valley. We recently visited its S.F. office at 333 Bryant, where at least one employee walks the SoMa talk by biking to work.

The firm's Tiffany Avila tells us BNBuilders is wrapping up Mozilla's new HQ at 331 Evelyn in Mountain View this month. The lobby wall (pictured) is two stories tall and made out of rare Bendheim glass from Germany. The web pioneer asked for a 54k SF two-story renovation (designed by MKThink... looks a bit like an MC Escher poster), and some of the funky features include open, high-tech, and collaborative work spaces with a focus on fun and flexibility to support Mozilla's culture of transparency, she says. Today, some half a billion people use the Mozilla Firefox web browser.

She tells us it also just completed the new HQ for Pivotal at 3495 Deer Creek Rd in Palo Alto last month, providing both preconstruction and construction services for the cloud firm. The 84k SF, two-story site features open and high-tech work spaces with training and conference rooms. It's also got the open ceilings and exposed elements most tech firms crave these days. The architect was Dennis R. Smith & Associates.
