San Francisco’s Affordable Housing Bonus Program is set to go before the Land Use Committee before a final showdown with the Board of Supervisors.
The city’s planning department originally proposed the AHBP. The incentive program would permit additional units on a site if the developer set aside more slots for affordable housing and could allow increased building heights, according to Curbed. Supporters claim increased housing density would ease San Francisco’s housing crisis.
The planning commission endorsed the program, but the AHBP has been attacked by Supervisor David Campos. He calls it a tool to evict people from their homes. [Curbed]
