Manufacturing Interest In AZ Renewed, JLL Says

Cardinal IG Cos just picked up a 77-acre parcel in Buckeye and is planning a 250k SF glass-manufacturing facility that will bring 100 new jobs to the area. Cardinal IG is a subsidiary of Cardinal Glass Industries, a leading national glass manufacturer with 6,000 employees at 37 locations. This marks the first significant industrial employment investment in Buckeye in two decades.

"This transaction represents a renewed interest in the State of Arizona from the manufacturing industry,” JLL managing director Tony Lydon tells Bisnow. “For a number of years we've lost manufacturing jobs, but now Cardinal Glass is coming to the Valley and another eight to 10 manufacturers are looking here for space solutions. It's pretty exciting." Tony (above left), along with Marc Hertzberg on the right, repped seller Evergreen Devco.

The site is three miles off Interstate 10 and Highway 85 (pictured below). It sits just north of the city’s downtown historic district and was part of a 152-acre chunk of land Evergreen is looking to sell.

Once fully operational, the facility is expected to generate $90k for the city in direct annual revenue, plus positive fiscal impacts that will exceed $5M over the course of the next 20 years. “This is a great company that Buckeye can partner with for many years, and it will provide great jobs for our residents,” Buckeye Mayor Jackie Meck says. “I also hope that having Cardinal select Buckeye for locating its operations here will kick-start other manufacturing development in our city.”

Tony can see why Buckeye is attracting manufacturing users. "Buckeye is a very employer/employee-friendly community, and they are promoting themselves nationally. It was an absolute pleasure working with their economic development team," he says.
