| In the last half decade, Campbell's has purchased a series of parcels on 13 acres between Admiral Wilson and South 11th Street, which sits just in front of the company's recently developed $90M world HQ, above. Spokesman Anthony Sanzio tells us the plan has always involved the development of a Campbell's-owned office park, of which the Sears building has long been a major impediment. | In years past, the historically designated Sears structure has acted as a nightclub, a car dealership, and an office building (thankfully not all at the same time). "But in many respects, it's outlived its usefulness," says Anthony. The plan going forward involves razing the site and developing Class-A office space throughout the now entirely Campbell's-owned acreage. "By revitalizing the area around us, I think that sends a positive symbol. Because what Camden really needs is economic development." |
