Target Announces Plans For Two More Urban-Format Philly Stores

Target's expansion into Philadelphia continues apace, as it has announced plans for two new, smaller stores in the city in coming years.

The first, announced on April 3, will join Yards Brewery in the former Destination Maternity building on Fifth and Spring Garden streets at the edge of Northern Liberties and the embryonic East Callowhill neighborhoods. On Tuesday, the merchant announced it would be the grocery tenant at the Lincoln Square development at South Broad and Washington streets, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Both locations, like the four already-open Target stores in Philadelphia proper, will be "flexible-format," meaning they will have an adaptable inventory based on the buying patterns of customers, rather than 100% of the offerings at big-box Targets. The Lincoln Square store will occupy 36K SF on the project's ground floor.
