Without solid transit and high-quality public spaces, innovative people (and companies) avoid your city. The transformation of Dilworth Park, with its transit improvements, has taken Center City a step forward. We're excited to talk about this and other hot trends at Bisnow's Philadelphia State of the Market at the Sheraton on Logan Square Sept. 24.
Center City District CEO Paul Levy, who will speak at our event, says the brand-new Dilworth Park has created an accessible gateway to transit, with new elevators, stairways, and entrances to the Market and Broad Street Lines, trolleys, and regional rail. The concourse level has become a well-lit space with clear lines-of-sight, and new wayfinding signs that orient transit passengers. Soon there will be real-time transit information available, too. The system transports more than 300,000 passengers through Center City each day.
Along with better transit, Paul says, the park offers something for everyone: green spaces, cultural and entertainment offerings, and the Rosa Blanca cafe with outdoor seating on the PNC Plaza. (And in the warm months, a place to splash. And ice skating come winter.) Creating the park was a public-private effort, including businesses, individuals, and local foundations.
