The Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority has submitted a public request for developers to propose redevelopment plans for 128.5 acres of land in Eastwick.

The Eastwick neighborhood is in southwest Philadelphia, bordering the Philadelphia International Airport and the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge. The available land includes the closed Pepper Middle School and Communications Technology High School, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Any developers wishing to throw their hats in the ring will have to demonstrate an ability and a willingness to work with the airport, the wildlife refuge, the PRA, SEPTA and community organizations to find a plan that satisfies the existing residential community, the airport's desires to expand and environmental concerns.

The deadline for developers to enter their names for what the PRA expects will be a nine-month study is Sept. 15, with a decision coming in October. [PBJ]
