DETAILS ON PANATTONI MONSTER PROJECT

In January, we dropped a few not-so-subtle hints about Panattoni Development Co's plans to construct a 1.4M SF build-to-suit distribution center for Unilever in Cumberland County. Previously known only by its top-secret (and slightly ominous) code name,"Project Infinity," only now can the full tale officially be told.
We caught up with Panattoni's Reid Townsend, kind enough to share a few fun facts about the property, scheduled to be completed this November on a 116-acre site in Penn Township's Key Logistics Park. Unilever plans to ship everything from Axe Body Spray to Vaseline from the facility, which will be known simply as the Unilever Northeast Distribution Center. (A better name for practical use; a much worse name if it was actually writing a spy movie.)

An entire mile's worth of tilt panels will be installed in the distribution center, Reid tells us, to lift the perimeter walls during those steamy Central Pennsylvania summers. As for the project team, they've certainly got their work cut out for them: "The building itself," Reid says, "[will] cover nearly 32 acres, or enough room for all 32 NFL teams to hold practice on their own field." (Imagine the trash talk.) Unilever was repped by Cushman & Wakefield.
Turns out Panattoni has also been busy in York County, where it just inked a 12-year lease with L'Oreal USA. Oddly enough, the cosmetics company will be moving into a 193k SF warehouse formerly occupied by Harley-Davidson. (Which could inspire a new color of eyeshadow: exhaust pipe black.) Located in Brickyard Industrial Park, the building was the largest block of Class-A space available in the York County submarket when Panattoni picked it up late last summer, Reid says. L'Oreal will use the property to ship overnight deliveries to its various retail locations throughout the Northeast as soon as this fall.
