Sugar Factory To Open Museum Of Candy In Chelsea Church Building

The Former Church Building At Sixth Avenue And 20Th Street In The Chelsea Neighborhood Of Manhattan

Sugar Factory founder Charissa Davidovici is expanding her sweet empire into a different venture altogether.

Davidovici will open a Museum of Candy in the former church that most recently housed the Limelight club in Chelsea, the first of three such locations she has planned, the New York Post reports. The opening is scheduled for this summer, and the second Museum of Candy location is to open in Los Angeles in 2019.

At the 30K SF church building at Sixth Avenue and 20th Street, Davidovici's museum will include history, interactive exhibits, make-your-own-candy stations and installations such as the "World's Largest Gummy Bear."

Within the museum, Davidovici will open a 5K SF café and marketplace, with the former containing more than a dozen stations selling pastries and house-made confections and the latter selling baking and candy-making tools.

Adjacent to the museum will be a 7K SF restaurant more closely resembling the previous 25 Sugar Factory locations, with signature offerings like the King Kong sundae that have made it among the most-Instagrammed restaurants in America.

Admission to the Museum of Candy will be $15 to $25, though customers can shop and dine at the café and restaurant without entering the museum proper.
