The NHL is joining the NBA and MLB as the latest Big Four sports league to sign a major HQ lease in 2016.

The hockey league signed a 160k SF lease for five floors of Brookfield Property Partners’ 67-story, 2.1M SF One Manhattan West. It also signed a 15k SF retail lease for a new NHL store in the complex’s retail space. When it moves, it will vacate the 140k SF it occupies at 1185 Avenue of the Americas.

The NHL will join law firm Skadden Arps at the tower, which is 40% leased. There will also be office space in Two and Five Manhattan West, the latter of which has been renovated into a collaborative space with large floor plates and floor-to-ceiling glass.

The seven-acre, six-building complex is on the Far West Side, next to Hudson Yards, and will boast more than 5M SF of Class-A office space, luxury apartments, a boutique hotel, retail and a two-acre public plaza.

The NHL was repped by CBRE’s Michael Laginestra and Michael Geoghegan. Brookfield was repped in-house by Jerry Larkin and Duncan McCuaig, alongside Cushman & Wakefield’s Bruce Mosler, Robert Lowe (not that one) and Ethan Silverstein.
