REBNY WINNERS

At REBNY's Residential Deals of the Year awards at the Metropolitan Pavilion on 18th Street late last week (Sandy apologizes for the delay in coverage), we snapped Henry Forster Award for lifetime achievement winner Steve Kliegerman (right), who heads Halstead and Brown Harris Stevens parent Terra Holdings, along with a former winner of the same award, Halstead's John Wollberg. Steve has built BHS and Halstead's development marketing divisions and was an initiator of REBNY's rule to share listings with other brokers in a timely fashion (now shortened to 24 hours).
Here's Rookie Salesperson of the Year Elise Ehrlich of Halstead and Brown Harris Stevens' Nicholas Palance, who won the Sale of the Year award along with co-broker Ann Ferguson of Klara Madlin Real Estate. Nicholas and Ann's deal involved an original prospect turned down by the co-op board and a second buyer bidding a lower price. That second buyer got it, but the seller still got a little something from the deal, serving as the architect for the new owner.
The dapper William McBurney of Douglas Elliman with his Rental Deal of the Year award. His winning deal involved three elderly artists living in a townhome. When one became ill and had to relocate to a care facility, the remaining owners were unable to fix up the unit for lease, and so William had to find a tenant who was willing to oversee the renovations, with the cost coming out of the rent. (We pitched a movie with a similar plot to Paramount; they told us it was too implausible.)
The event's big draw: A Cesar Galinda fashion show. Made us feel like we work for Vogue for a night.
