The impact of a possible downturn, the effects of tariffs, rent regulations and which kind of assets are the safest bet right now were all subjects of discussion at Bisnow’s annual finance summit last week.

“We have adjusted our strategy over the last couple years, as this cycle has pushed on … [Now] we want to see the majority of value creation happen in the first 12 to 18 months," KKR Head of Real Estate Americas Chris Lee said during one of the panels. "A lot of that is really around the uncertainty we see in the environment … If you look at an office building, for instance, leasing three years from now, a lot of people have a very different view of what that may look like.”
