The UCLA Center for Health Policy Research recently launched a new campaign to end smoking in Los Angeles apartment buildings. The Smokefree Apartments Los Angeles initiative encourages landlords to adopt smoke-free policies and is part of a national program funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
According to a UCLA study released Wednesday, only 20% of apartment complexes in LA ban smoking, while more than 80% of the tenants polled said they'd rather live in a smoke-free building, reports CBS Los Angeles.
Earlier this year, the American Lung Association gave the city an “F” in the category of smoke-free housing, according to UCLA. [CBS LA]
