It's one of the 122 beta projects worldwide using the new LEED v4 criteria and only the third building in the US to be pre-certified LEED Platinum in the latest standards. (It's like the people in the building are expending more energy than the building itself.) Meet Capitol Tower, the 35-story, 750k SF property that Skanska will build with the goal of its being Houston's greenest tower.
The Gensler-designed building includes 90% access to daylight (which makes it a tough place to play hide and seek, but we all need to make sacrifices), a high-performance building façade that significantly reduces solar gain, and a garage with occupancy lighting sensors and green rooftop. Skanska is demolishing an existing building at the site to prep for construction.
