Apple has announced plans to build a data center in Waukee, Iowa, that will run entirely on renewable energy.

The new 400K SF facility is expected to create more than 50 construction and operations jobs in the Des Moines area.

The facility is in line with Apple’s plan to power all of its operations with 100% renewable energy. The company has already achieved this goal in the U.S. and 23 other countries.

According to a release, Apple will be investing $1.3B into the Waukee project as well as $100M into a Public Improvement Fund.

The fund will be managed by the City of Waukee and will be dedicated to community development and infrastructure in the Waukee area, including the Waukee Youth Sports Campus, a project that will feature a greenhouse, playground, fishing pier and athletic fields.

“We’re honored Apple is choosing Iowa for the site of its most technologically advanced data center to date. Apple’s commitment to innovation and renewable energy leadership mirrors our own. This investment in our state is vital as we continue to develop as a technology hub and grow our workforce,” Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds said in the release.

The deal also comes with a $19.6M refund in state sales taxes and an additional $188M tax break on Waukee property taxes, according to CNBC.

Construction on the data center is expected to begin as soon as early 2018 and is anticipated to finish in 2020.
