Thor Equities CEO Joe Sitt—who's been very active globally—gave his take on Bloomberg Markets on how to turn challenges in emerging markets into opportunities.

“The most important thing for an investor today is to be cognizant of all the different moving parts,” Joe said, with everything from oil prices to political instability, interest rates and technology playing a role.

The frustrating part is that you can be thrown a surprise at any time, Joe said. But that can also lead to lucrative opportunity.

There are high-quality REITs being knocked around by the interest rate and general market dislocation that attentive investors can pick up for a bargain.

Big players like Blackstone are experiencing the same market dislocation but should be able to take advantage, Joe said.
