BOSTON Not every development deal is spiritually rewarding, but Christian Science Church strategists Robert Herlinger and Barbara Burley say the selection of a developer for two land parcels at its Boston world HQ will allow it to channel more member donations to the Churchs religious mission worldwide. Carpenter & Co recently announced its plan to build 800k SF in two mixed-use towers (perhaps costing $440M or more) on the sites. And last summer, Beacon Capital Partners signed a $59M, 99-year ground lease on a Church-owned high-rise. The deals will generate income for the Church to maintain and improve its nearly 15-acre Back Bay complex.
