Franklin officials have proposed allowing buildings as high as 16 stories along the east side of I-65. That's part of the newly released 150-page Envision Franklin, which is the starting point to update the city's land-use policy and zoning code. The city will hold public meetings on the draft plan in late September, with the goal of hammering out a final framework by December, the Nashville Business Journal reports.

Franklin has been on the receiving end of a surge of growth in recent years that's led to a shortage of office space, especially in the desirable Cool Springs submarket. And the squeeze only seems to be getting worse, with Williamson County adding residents faster than any other in Tennessee and adding jobs faster than any other in the entire country. The change in zoning would allow proposed developments by the likes of Pat Emery and Boyle Investment to be taller and thus bring more space onto the market. [NBJ]
