UA92, the new university academy to be built at Old Trafford under the leadership of Class of '92 Manchester United players, including Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs, is "on the verge" of submitting a planning application.

Project ’92 Managing Director Yvonne Harrison told a conference that planning application was imminent, Built Environment Networking reports.

The new college will be at the heart of plans to revitalise and reposition Old Trafford as a Manchester residential, leisure and educational district, with a smaller but sustainable office market.

The former Kellogs HQ at Talbot Road is to be the centrepiece of the new university academy. Around 200K SF of teaching and sports space is expected. Trafford Council acquired the site last year with a view to the UA92 development, borrowing around £12M to fund the purchase.

The former Kellogs building will be remodelled to make better use of its internal space, particularly the atrium. A new multi-storey car park could also liberate the surrounding site’s extensive surface for redevelopment, according to Built Environment Networking.

Work on site is expected to begin later this year, for completion before autumn 2020.
