The Expo Line Is Now Open

It is official: the Metro Expo Line is now open to the coast.

It officially opened at noon Friday and offered free rides through early Saturday. The new Metro line is expected to have a huge impact on the industry and the City of Santa Monica.

The ride from Seventh/Metro Center station in Downtown Los Angeles to downtown Santa Monica, just steps away from the beach, is 50 minutes, according to Curbed.

The opening marks the first time in 60 years that people can ride a Metro line to Santa Monica. [Curbed]
