Get your noise-cancelling headphones ready: Another aircraft company is making itself at home in Long Beach. (Just don't hide in the plane wheels.) Shimadzu Precision Instruments, a subsidiary of a Japanese company, bought nearly four acres in Sares-Regis' new Pacific Pointe business park to build its US HQ.

This morning, we chatted with The Klabin Co/CORFAC partner Todd Taugner, right, with Klabin pres David Prior. (The duo repped Shimadzu along with their colleague, Frank Schulz; CBRE's Brian DeRevere represented Sares-Regis.) Shimadzu Precision, which manufactures commercial aircraft components, plans to build a 53k SF corporate HQ and manufacturing facility (does that mean their CEO is gonna countersink some friction-lock rivets?), which'll accommodate the company's expected growth in commercial airline production. Todd says the deal reflects a greater commitment to SoCal for very high-end manufacturing uses.

The new factory will be located at the SE corner of Lakewood Boulevard and Conant Street—a high-image location at the entry to Pacific Pointe, the former McDonnell Douglas/Boeing plant adjacent to Long Beach Airport. Shimadzu (Why do we immediately want to follow that up with "Hasenpfeffer Incorporated"?) will construct its own facility, roughly doubling the size of its current facility in Torrance, a leased space where the company performs repairs and service. Occupancy's expected in the first half of next year.
