5 Projects Being Built In Downtown LA

Downtown LA couldn't be any hotter. Big projects are taking shape downtown that will change LA's skyline. Find out more details about the latest projects at Bisnow's Downtown LA Renaissance event at 7:30am Thursday at the WeWork Gas Tower.

The Bloc

The Ratkovich Co is building The Bloc, which includes a four-star Sheraton hotel, a 700k SF office tower, a newly revamped Macy's department store and a pedestrian passageway to the Seventh Street/Metro Center Station.

The $180M development will boast plenty of food options, including the first West Coast outpost of Boston's Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse and TLT Food, a food truck turned fast-casual eatery.

The courtyard at The Bloc, The Square, is scheduled to open on June 16 with a kickoff of its Summer Series, according to The Ratkovich Co COO Clare DeBriere.

Wilshire Grand

The $1B Wilshire Grand (900 Wilshire Blvd) is rising in the heart of LA’s Financial District. It will hold retail, offices and a 900-room hotel.

When it is finished, it will be the tallest building west of the Mississippi, at 1,100 feet, and will drastically change the look of the downtown skyline.

The Wilshire Grand's opening date is scheduled for March 2017.

It is expected to be completed in Q4 2018.

There will be a total of more than 1,500 condo units, 70k SF of retail space and a boutique hotel with 350 rooms.

The hotel is scheduled to be completed in the fall. The entire project should be completed by the end of 2018.

Circa

Circa is a JV of Jamison, Hankey Investment Co, Falcon California Investments and Highlands Capital. LendLease is the general contractor.

The 1.6M SF project will have two 35-story towers with 648 residential units and 48k SF of retail space.

The "amenity deck" will include a circular lounge pool, outdoor fire pits and a library-wine bar.

Construction is expected to be finished in September 2017.
