HM Revenue and Customs set up its new regional office in Croydon at One Ruskin Square. About 2,500 civil servants will occupy the first office building of Stanhope & Schroder UK Real Estate’s new £500M development next to East Croydon station.

HMRC is consolidating its real estate holdings from about 170 offices spread over the UK to 13 state-of-the-art centres as part of a cost-saving strategy. At One Ruskin Square, the tax authority agency will have about 180k SF on a 25-year lease. The building comprises nine floors on floor plates of approximately 20k SF.

The nine-acre Ruskin Square complex will be ready for HMRC to fit-out in November 2016. HMRC anticipates the first members of staff will move in summer 2017. There is also an option to lease further space at Ruskin Square.

JLL acted for HMRC. Savills and JLL are the retained commercial letting agents for Ruskin Square.
