Coats Rose Expands in Greenway

Coats Rose (which many of you will know from its construction and real estate practice) has expanded into 48k SF at 9 Greenway. The law firm consolidated two Houston locations into the new space—one in 3 Greenway and one in Clear Lake. CBRE’s Ron McWherter (snapped above, left with client Mark Wilson and colleague Tom Boyd) and Paul Penland repped the tenant; Ron tells us its previous location required major reconfiguration to accommodate its needs, so it knew it needed to move. The big challenge: Rental rates have increased as much as 60% over the last 10 years, and Coats Rose wanted to maintain its office budget.

Success, says Ron. The firm got a lovely new office and stayed within budget. Coats Rose has been involved in the redevelopment of the historic Texaco Building Downtown, land acquisition for Exxon’s North Houston campus, and Johnson’s acquisition of Camp Strake. CB project management director April Miller assisted in design and construction of the new office.
