A development group called Aurora Highlands LLC is proposing a 2,900-acre, first-phase master planned community as part of the 21,000-acre Aerotropolis development south of DIA. In later phases the proposed development would be 5,000 acres, and include residential properties for 23,000 households, plus office, retail, industrial space, parks, recreation and other public facilities, the Denver Business Journal reports.
The developers have also proposed a public-private partnership with the City of Aurora and Adams County to provide the regional transportation improvements and improved public infrastructure. According to Aurora Highlands, these would be needed to improve access within Aurora and more connectivity from I-70 to the airport.
As yet, the development does not have a specific location within Aerotropolis, and the plans have not been offered to the city, which will need to sign off on any development.
