The University of Denver has broken ground on its new Burwell Center for Career Achievement at the edge of campus.
Designed by Lake|Flato Architects and Shears Adkins Rockmore (SA+R), the 23K SF building will be a campus hub focused on student career development, employer engagement and alumni activities. The building, which is designed to achieve LEED Platinum status, is expected to use 70% less energy than comparable university buildings.
The building and surrounding site are designed to create spaces that encourage users to linger and interact.
“The collaboration throughout this project has been extremely impactful,” SA+R Project Architect Dan Craig said. “Early in the project, a series of integrated design workshops, engaging hundreds of people from the DU community, established a social contract for the building. This informed every decision we made.”
