It doesn’t matter how long you’ve lived in the Metroplex, there are off-the-beaten-track places that you just can’t miss visiting, according to The Wall Street Journal. You could spend an entire day at the Fort Worth Cultural District and then head over to the Magnolia Motor Lounge in Fort Worth for some unwinding. But, our DFW reporter, Tonie Auer, who lives in Denton, agrees with the Journal’s recommendation of hitting East Side Denton (or as the locals call it, East Side Social Club), where there are about 100 beers on tap (and the varieties vary weekly). The Austin Street Truck Stop is right behind it, where Tonie’s husband loves the Pickled Carrot, but her daughter’s fave is the Waffle Wagon (pictured). Another Journal suggestion is Ranchman's Cafe in Ponder. If you go, call ahead to order your baked potato and when you get there, look for one of Tonie's articles posted on the wall.
