Top Golfers: Part I

In this recurring series, we're finding out who are commercial real estate's best golfers. DTZ senior associate Tim Lisy (nominated by Design Organization’s Jeff Laski) played competitively at Fenwick High School in Oak Park. His favorite local course is George Dunne (where he shot his best round); he has two holes in one; and his best golf trip so far was to Bandon Dunes with his dad (above). One day, Tim hopes to get a big group together for a Scotland/Ireland trip. At the office, it’s getting tough to find space for tech tenants in River North, but he likes what buildings just south of the river are doing to attract the startup set (creative space, exposed ceilings, similar amenities).

MB Financial Bank commercial banking officer George Freeman (nominated by his wife Jacqueline Freeman) loves Caddyshack and has been known to say, “Gambling is illegal at Bushwood, sir, and I never slice…” while on the golf course. (He's snapped with his dad in another Bandon Dunes shot, above.) George rates golf courses for Golfweek Magazine in his spare time, so you’re sure to find him on some Chicago-area golf course as many weekends as he can, rain or shine. He tells us he'll soon close a sizable purpose-built student housing construction loan. He hopes to continue to build his portfolio in that asset class, one in which MB has not historically had a large presence.
