We can’t fault it for needing a makeover after 91 years. Mayor Emanuel and CTA prez Forrest Claypool broke ground on the $203M Wilson station reno yesterday, according to Chicagoist. It’s part of the CTA’s Red Ahead program of updating and expanding the city’s most traveled rail line. One of the most ambitious in CTA history, the Wilson undertaking will make the station a larger transfer point for both Red and Purple Line trains, with 2,200 feet of elevated tracks. Historical buffs, fear not. The station house, circa 1923, will be immaculately restored with ADA-compliant updates.
