The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile may need some permanent parking in Chicago. Kraft Heinz announced yesterday it was moving Oscar Mayer's US meats business from Madison, WI, to Aon Center.
But the announcement comes with some bad news. Kraft Heinz will shutter seven plants in the US and Canada, affecting 2,600 workers. Not everyone will make the move—Oscar Mayer has 300 employees in Madison; 250 jobs will move to Aon Center, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Kraft Heinz says the decisions are difficult but necessary to cut $1.7B in costs by 2017. The company is moving to Aon Center and will sublease its Northfield HQ to Medline once the move is complete. [Trib]
